The last days in Meru

Challabais. Here comes the last blogpost from Meru.. Yo!!

When we were at homevisits on Friday we got two avocados. We didn't know what to do with them, so we gave them to the kitchen. Since then we have been eating avocado-food. Avocado with everything. This is githeri. The kenyan national food. Almost;) Actually it's really good!:)

On saturday we went to Three Steers Hotel to have swahili lesson. Eric had bought a Swahili newspaper for us to read. We understood everything!

As you can see; we are really studying swahili!! This time in the lounge.

Yo

Outside Nakumatt Meru .

Mirrors in the car are very important so that you can look out the back window without turning your head! Hmmm..

On Monday Mercy teached us how to hand-wash our clothes. Right on time since we were going to leave three days later.. It was a nice experience, and Ginas white socks actually ended up white! Crazy.

More avocado! This time; lunch with rice and beans.

Later on Monday we were driven to a Chairlady. Whats that? We are still not quite sure.. But she has something to do with the YWCA of Meru. We were just dropped of by the driver, got a huge hug and were shown around at her hotel. This good food caused Frida some nice visits to the toilet the next day..

This is the Chairladies two grandchildren. They had a small show for us with singing and story-telling.

Frida, Michelle, Ann and Michelles mother.

On Tuesday we had our big swahili exam:S It went terrible.. We got an A!! Wihiii

White Kenyan!! Doreen showed us how to carry like a real kenyan lady.

Frida is getting help from Doreen and Mwongera.

Later on Tuesday we visited Mercys place.

=)

We had to cry a bit when we remebered that we were going to leave the next day...

Tuesday evening we ate supper with the other Mercys famliy. It was really nice. A good way to spend the last evening in Meru:) And lovely food!
This is Gina, Mercy next to Gina, her three sisters and her cousin.

And this is Mercys parents. Benjamin and Madrid (if thats how they spell it:p)

Wednesday morning we left Meru for the last time at this stay. It was sad.. We are really going to miss the place and all the nice people we have got to know! We are both coming back one day!!

Now we are in Nairobi. On Thursday we bought new visas. That means no more program in Nairobi until next Sunday. So now we are trying to find something to do.. Good luck to us!

Today we are moving to the YWCA hostel in Nairobi and later this day we are going to watch Harry Potter at the cinema with Eric:)
